Communist Party sues Pret A Manger for "Stealing Our Logo"

Fresh from posting another poorly formatted newsletter through the letterbox of an unsuspecting stranger, leader of the British Communist Party David Griffiths today declared that he was focusing his efforts on the real class enemy - sandwich chain Pret A Manger.

“Look,” he said, “I love a Swedish Meatball wrap as much as the next comrade, but one look at the logo makes you realise there's something going on here - this is exactly why the proletariat have failed to achieve class consciousness.”

Both Pret a Manger and the Soviet Union have obvious similarities: both established a complete socio-political hegemony over their geographical area; both are quite popular in Islington and both use mostly biodegradable packaging – the remains of the Soviet Union still slowly biodegrading through the Chernobyl area.
"Cultural Imperialism is buying a baguette in Haringey."

The Vanguard of the Proletariat are upset that this falls into the wider narrative of their symbols being appropriated by capitalists: “First we come up with the sickle which has been stolen by the Grim Reaper, then the idea of “The Red Army” is stolen by some fucking United fans. Even my Che Guevara T-Shirt cost £35 quid from Urban Outfitters.”

"The hardest thing about being a Trot is that red just isn't really my colour"

Griffiths however did point out that he would not be throwing any bricks through Pret windows any time soon: “it’s just so hard to hate somewhere that makes such a good granola.”.
